Ready to get back in the game? James Zheng (Chiropractor) works with you following a thorough assessment, using chiropractic care that may help you manage a sports injury and support your return to activity as part of an individual care plan.
Almost 60,000 people aged over 15 are hospitalised due to a sports injury every year in Australia. Many musculoskeletal injuries can benefit from chiropractic care, even though they may have very different causes.

What causes sports injuries?
There are many reasons sports injuries occur, including structural abnormalities or muscle imbalances, poor training methods, or a lack of strength in the tendons, muscles and ligaments. Chronic wear and tear from a repetitive motion that stresses a specific tissue causes many of these injuries — pain occurs when some of those muscle or tendon fibres begin to tear.
After a sprain, joints are more susceptible to further injury, particularly when the muscles and ligaments that support them are weaker than they should be. Poor training methods, however, are the most common cause of muscle and joint injuries.
How chiropractic helps
Pain reduction should never be the overarching goal of sports injury treatment — repairing injured and weakened tissue should. Ibuprofen, Diclofenac (Voltaren), cortisone injections or even surgery may relieve the pain, but they do not strengthen the weakened tissue the way a chiropractic adjustment does.
Chiropractic treatment encourages the body's natural healing process and reduces the time it takes for sports injuries to heal, so you recover stronger and get back to the activities you love.
