Understanding muscle strains and sprains
Muscle strains and sprains occur when the fibres of a muscle or tendon are stretched or torn. Strains typically affect muscles, while sprains affect the ligaments that connect bone to bone. These injuries can result from lifting heavy objects, sudden twists or impacts, or repetitive movements that strain the muscles.
The chiropractic approach
Our goal is to settle the injury, support healing and help you build resilience so it doesn't recur:
- Assessment and diagnosis — a thorough examination to understand the extent of the strain or sprain.
- Chiropractic adjustments — precise, controlled adjustments to realign the spine and affected joints.
- Soft tissue therapy — massage, myofascial release and stretching to ease muscle tightness.
- Therapeutic exercises — specific exercises to strengthen and rehabilitate the injured muscles.
- Cold laser therapy — low-level laser light to stimulate cellular activity and promote healing.
The benefits of chiropractic care
Chiropractic care offers a non-invasive, drug-free and holistic approach to recovery, alongside preventive guidance to help reduce the chance of re-injury.
